Pulmonology Web Site Launched in Kazakhstan
Fact of the Day

Pulmonologist Nurgul Saliyeva of Kazakhstan has launched a Web site about lung diseases for medical professionals and those seeking extensive information. Last year, Kazakhstan was identified as having the highest level of multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in the world for newly diagnosed cases. Saliyeva used the U.S. Department of State-sponsored Internet Access and Training Program (IATP) facilities for more than a year to research lung-related information online, raise her professional qualifications, and organize doctors to research devices, medications, and treatments online. The Web site in Russian www.pulmo.freenet.kz gives medical professionals and ordinary people in Kazakhstan greater access to the latest technologies and treatments of lung disease.
